Wondering who’s protecting your broccoli while it grows from that pesky cabbage moth? It’s Tianna! πŸ₯¦πŸ₯¦πŸ₯¦πŸ₯¦
This snake was inspecting our cucurbits this morning, headed to see how our landscape fabric is coming along and slithered straight through to our broccoli and cabbage!
Some of you may recognize my (Michelle) husband as Mr. J, English and newspaper teacher at Charlottesville High School. Andy has been stepping in to help out the farm by running errands for us, including donating some greens to the food bank this wee
Coming soon: kohlrabi, scallions, fennel, and napa. Mid/late spring is my favorite time to harvest. These beds are looking good! The fennel bed on the left was covered with row cover for a while so it is bigger and beefier than the one on the right.
From where I sit bunching salad turnips I can hear the voices of dozens of birds as well as the voices of my wonderful coworkers industriously harvesting away for our CSA members. Times like this I remember why I do all the hard parts. To have my han
All these lovely plants are headed to our customers' gardens this week! I love that this crisis is sparking new life into home gardens! What are you growing this year?
We use our Alice chalmer model G from 1953 to weed so we don’t have to (when she’s workin’). Still love her though!
So thankful for our hardworking share-packers! You can’t tell but Kate is smiling. See you this evening at Walker (just for week 1)!!😍🌱
Untucking our greens for harvest this morning :)
Baby carrots have germinated well and are growing strong! πŸ₯•πŸ§‘

It was such a nice field but it had to be done... Nat used the disc implement to work up last year’s greens patch for this year’s solanaceous crops! πŸ†πŸ…πŸ˜
We hilled our potatoes today! Using the hilling disc implement to mound dirt around the potatoes increases the productivity of the plants and minimizes weed pressure! Can’t wait to fry these up ...🀀πŸ₯”❀️
The beets are glowing in this light! 😍🌱🌞
These beautiful herb starts along with other plants, potting soil and compost are all restocked on our site. Order today for pickup on the farm Saturday! Bellairfarm.luluslocalfood.com
Our crew worked really hard yesterday using stirrup hoes to get the weeds out of our second greens seeding before they get out of control! This is a pretty difficult task if you’re at it for a long time and they took extra precautions by spacin
