2025 Summer Veggie CSA

Start Date

Anticipated start date is May 6th. (Full season May 6th-Oct 5th). This includes veggie and weekly add-on shares (berry, mushroom, milk/cheese/yogurt, and egg shares. Monthly shares start the last week of May (herb, culture, carnivore) and are always distributed on the last week of the month.

Duration

20 weeks over a 22-week period. We take two ‘hiatus’ weeks during the season, usually the last weeks of July & August. Hiatus weeks for 2025 will be confirmed in early Summer.

If you can’t get enough of the veggies, we also run a short Fall Veggie Share immediately after the end of the Summer share.

What's in it?

Farm-fresh, seasonal veggies of course! We grow over 50 different varieties of vegetables without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Read more about our values and farming practices here.

The Half Share contains 6 items and a Full Share contains 10. When you pick up in town, we choose the first 3 items and you choose the rest. When you pick up on-farm you choose your entire share. Our crew sets the portion and packs your share: one “item” can be anything from a bunch of carrots or radishes to a quart of potatoes to 8 oz of greens. Remember -- our shares are seasonal and can vary week to week and year to year. Here's a good idea of what to expect.

PICK UP LOCATIONS

For Summer Veggie Shares, pickup is flexible! You can mix up your pickup time and location week to week within any of these options (but only pick up once per week, of course.) Note, add-on shares and online retail orders must be picked up at the location you selected in your online account.

Prospective 2025 CSA Locations are below:

  • Tuesdays 4-6:30 pm @ Trinity Presbyterian

  • Wednesdays 3-7 pm @ Pen Park Market

  • Thursdays 4:30-7 pm @ Sojourners United Church

  • Fridays 9 am-5 pm @ Bellair Barn

  • Saturdays 9 am-2 pm @ Bellair Barn

**Note, we do NOT offer CSA Pickup at the Saturday IX Art Park Market during the Summer.

HOME DELIVERY with Preorders

We will now offer to deliver your CSA share to your home/office during our regular wholesale deliver days when you place an order in the online store for $60 or more for that week.

Wholesale deliveries are Wednesday and Friday afternoon (approx. 2-5pm) to the following zip codes: 22901, 22902, 22903, 22911, 22904.

To take advantage of this option, place an order in the online store as usual, and add a note to your order:

  • “Please deliver my CSA share with my order” please specify half/full share and any specific add-ons

  • Specify delivery day (Wed or Fri) and location address

Your share will include the 3 pre-packed items (like at market), and you can request the remaining items in your note. If you do not specify, we will pack your share “Farmer’s Choice.”

Cost & Payment options

There are options to pay in full, in 3 installments, or week-to-week.

Full Share (10 items) - $38.38 per week or $767.60 total
Half Share (6 items) - $23.74 per week or $474.70 total
*these prices include tax

There's no discounted or preferred method. When you subscribe in the online store, the system does not automatically charge your card. Your card will be charged on approximately the due dates listed according to the payment plan you sign up for. If you want us to run your card now, we can help with that!

Pick-Your-Own (PYO)

In addition to picking up your bag of veggies each week, CSA members are welcome to visit the farm and pick their own vegetables from our pick-your-own fields. There will be fresh flowers, herbs, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, and usually a few other interesting items for the taking. PYO is available to members 7 days a week during the following times:

  • Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

  • Sat & Sun 8am-2pm

Check the newsletter or the “pick your own” board in the Barn Store to see what is available week to week.

Other perks: farm access and discounts!

Current-year CSA members (any veggie OR add-on share) get 20% off vegetables and 10% off eggs. These discounts are in effect for the calendar year during which you are a member. Members are also welcome to enjoy the farm any day of the week, whether that be through pick-your-own, walking, picnicking and more.

Add-on Shares

Add-on shares from Bellair or our trusted partner producers can also be purchased on the “shares” page of the online store. Unlike Veggie Shares, add-ons will need to be consistently picked up at the same location each week (the location you select in you online account). If you ever need to make a change, please let us know by Monday so that we can make arrangements for you.

VACATION POLICY

We stand by the fact that we are Charlottesville's MOST FLEXIBLE CSA. That being said, we have had issues with folks stretching our vacation policy. We ask that you please observe the following:

  • We PREFER that you send a friend or family member to get your share if you are away.

  • If that's difficult for you, you may "double up" your share up to twice per season (not applicable to the Fall Share).

  • Your "double ups" MUST BE the week immediately before or after your missed week (no "saving" them for later)

  • This policy is based on the honor system. Thank you for your help!

Add-on Shares are not as flexible, especially perishable add-on items. We have standing orders with our partner vendors, and if you miss a pick up, we cannot save or resell the item. We can accommodate a pick up location change if you email us in advance. We may be able to accommodate an add-on double up, but it must be pre-approved:

  • You MUST email us before your vacation to let us know that you will miss your add-on share. Please let us know by noon Monday of the week you will miss (we confirm our vendor orders Monday afternoon).

  • Vacation double ups are limited to twice per season.

Communication

CSA Members receive weekly emails with important announcements, farm updates, available produce, and cooking tips or recipes. These emails are very important! Let us know if we need to add other members of your household to the member-only email list.

The best way to get in touch is to email bellairfarm@gmail.com. Multiple staff members check email, and we will respond with 1 business day.

Call the Bellair Barn Office at 434-244-0325, but if you don’t get an answer, please email us. We are often running around the farm and don’t always check the voicemail.
